UKS2 – Newsletter – 08/07/2022

It has been a sunny week in UKS2!

On Friday, a bus full of exhausted and smiling Year 6s returned to school after their residential. What a fantastic three days!

Over the three days every group had a go at: cave exploring, gorge walking, canoeing and rock climbing. Each activity gave the children the chance to experience something new, which put their teamwork, resilience and perseverance to the test! They all did fantastically well to overcome any fear and challenge themselves by stepping outside of their comfort zones.

During the evenings, the children enjoyed a range of activities, including a nightline and a scavenger hunt. On the final evening, we had a campfire together. The children put their Forest School fire building skills into practice and toasted marshmallows on their fires.

Though time went so quickly, we had an excellent time. The children represented Cookridge brilliantly and made the most of every experience.

In Geography, Class 8 have been putting their atlas skills to the test to research the key human and physical features of North America. Using their knowledge of the world and our atlases, the children then recorded their information, presented it a way of their choice and decorated it. There was some excellent, informative pieces created and  the children displayed superb atlas and map reading skills.

Finally, our learnatics for this week are: Samy and Adam (Class 8) and Ella (Class 9). Well done you are all amazing. Ooh ahh you’re a star!!
