UKS2 – Newsletter – 10.10.25
It has been a busy week in UKS2!
In science, UKS2 were experimenting with the density of liquids an solids. First, they experimented how well potato sinks in water. Then saturated the water with salt to create a solution, and compared the findings. Finally, they experimented with the density of food colouring and water.
In geography, pupils explored Ordnance Survey maps and learned how map scales work. Using string, they measured distances on the map in centimetres and converted them into meters to work out how far they would need to walk from one place to another.
This week in UKS2, the children were asked to utilise their tool skills to create their own Olympic award. Taking influence from a range of Ancient Greek sources, the children designed, made then evaluated their medals and trophies.
A variety of skills were used, including: whittling, drilling, sawing and knotting. Alongside this, a range of materials were used, including wood, clay, apples and string!
The children worked safely and effectively to create their pieces!
This week in UKS2 we also celebrated Yellow day! The children got into the spirit of community and pride, generating their own fingerprint poems all about them. They composed their unique verse all about themselves, then wrote them up neatly into some wonderful pieces of work!
