UKS2 – Newsletter – 11.06.2021

It has been a busy first week back in UKS2. On Tuesday, Class 8 began to debate the topic of single use plastics. After researching the positives and negatives, the children began to formulate the foundations of their next write – a balanced argument.

In science, we have been learning about the circulatory system. After discussing the function of the heart and lungs, Class 8 took to the field to regulate their breathing and gain a better understanding of the vital systems that keep them alive.

In P4C this week, UKS2 have been exploring the importance of ‘Equity vs Equality’ and personality differences. Completing a variety of tasks and activities relating to these two topics, the children enjoyed a warm afternoon in the sun.

On Thursday in PE Class 8 and 10 enjoyed their first session of football. Practising the key skills of passing, dribbling and shooting, the children worked in small groups, honing their skills before competing in three 5 aside games. Due to field constraints, Class 9 enjoyed a lesson consisting of team building games, working together to enjoy a fun filled afternoon!

Remember, next week is a PPA week, so children need to attend school in their PE kits. It is also important to remember that the weather is getting hotter, and children should be bringing water bottles, sun hats and sun cream to school.
