Waterstones Trip – Book Bingo Winners
In this morning’s World Book Day assembly led by author Maria Ferguson, we found out the winners of our Book Bingo competition which we have been running across school over the past few weeks in the lead up to World Book Day. Maria picked two tickets from each year group’s bucket at random and those children were quickly whisked away on the minibus into Leeds to visit Waterstones bookstore. Once there, they had lots of World Book Day activities to complete including a book character themed treasure hunt, designing a new bookmark and writing some signs for Waterstones based on the books the children love! Mrs Hunter also very kindly agreed to the children choosing some new books for our library and the pupils did incredibly well at not just picking books that they like but considering what would be popular across the school for others. As we left, the staff at Waterstones said since running activities like this over the past 5 years, our children were the best behaved they have ever had. What a credit to the Cookridge community! Well done to our winners and well done to everyone who entered!
