Wellbeing Forest School – 12.5.26
This afternoon we have had a lovely afternoon in our canopy classroom away from the cold wind! The older pupils refreshed their skills with flint and steel in order to create sparks and we talked about resilience, learning new skills and determination as key life skills. Once achieved and the technique was secure, children created a fire lay in the middle of the fire pit and set it alight. Using fire gloves, their knowledge of the fire triangle and whilst observing lots of safety rules, the group successfully grew their fire so it was hot enough to roast marshmallows on. They had a great time cooking – or burning – their tasty snack before eating it! The younger pupils used their fire to roast marshmallows whilst we discussed why keeping things fair is important. We talked about ‘democracy’ and how, under this voting system, the most popular person/idea wins. As a group, we then used a voting system to decide what game to play before heading up to the chicken area. Children took turns and helped each other to collect the eggs and bring them safely to the school office where they are now on sale. Well done everyone.
