Wellbeing Wednesday – Forest School
What a gorgeous day to spend outside in our wooded area where there was plenty of shade on offer as well as a host of activities. After playing a game where we focused on learning everyone’s names, we discussed the topic of personal autonomy – or the right to choose and have control over certain areas of our lives (whether a child or adult). We concluded that having levels of control of things for example of what hat to wear, or what to have for pudding after tea, is good for wellbeing and independence. Therefore, the pupils were then given the right and freedom to choose what to do in our wellbeing session. They relaxed in hammocks, learnt how to make daisy and dandelion bracelets and necklaces, did some outdoor yoga, litter pick, play games and make dens. It was a lovely morning and at the end we all shared how the personal autonomy allowed the children to be creative, have fun and take responsibility whilst increasing their independence. Everyone agreed, this made us all feel happier and boosted our mood! Well done everyone!
