Wellbeing Wednesday – Forest School

It’s been a morning of animals in Wellbeing Wednesday sessions today! First, the younger pupils celebrated World Bee Day (which was yesterday) by learning more about these useful insects. We learnt that bees play an important role in producing the food we eat through pollination and how bees make honey. They then had a range of activities to choose from all about bees – they could make a bee using pine cone and string, use their fingers, sticks and paint to create a picture of bees and flowers or use a hammer, cloth and buttercups to imprint the yellow dye to make miniature bees. The older pupils gave our resident goats (Nigel and Doughnut) a makeover! We learnt about the basics of goat care by giving them an inspection whilst in the goat handling system. Pupils checked their feet and eyes and cleaned them if required before giving them a brush to remove their winter coat which is now moulting. They were amazed at how much hair came off them!
