Wellbeing Wednesday – Forest School
Today in Wellbeing Wednesday the younger group learnt all about how being outside can change someone’s feelings. We began the session by checking in on each other by creating a face out of loose parts which reflected our emotions. We talked about them before being given the choice of several activities throughout the morning. These included sit spotting, outdoor yoga, earthing, den building or lying in a hammock. At the end, we came back to the faces we had made at the beginning and changed them if we now felt a different emotion and discussed why they had change. Some pupils recognised it was because they had been energetic and moved a lot whilst others recognised it was because they had been calm and spent the session focusing on their mental wellbeing. The older group went strawberry picking as promised last week after their hard work in the garden area. Carefully searching the strawberry plot, children found bright red fruit which they checked for pest damage before placing them in a bowl for later. After washing them, children then tucked into a delicious, tasty snack before having some time using the hammocks and yoga mats where we looked at being calm in nature. A great morning in hot, sunny weather!
