Wellbeing Wednesday – Forest School
Today was our last Wellbeing Wednesday sessions of the year and to mark the occasion, we reflected on the journey we’ve all been on. The older pupils began by discussing how people store and remember special events and memories in their lives. We discussed photos and photo frames which led us nicely onto our first challenge of the day – making a picture frame! Using sticks and twine, children sourced sticks from the Forest School area where they used a variety of methods, including ‘frapping,’ for attaching the sticks together to create a frame. Once completed, children took their frames and took photos of objects in our Forest School area before creating one of their highlights of Forest School in the frame using loose parts. The younger pupils spent their session learning about animal husbandry. This included how to act around the animals, how to handle them and how to provide basic animal care such as feeding them and brushing their coats. They loved getting Nigel and Doughnut out for a hairbrush! They finished their session by collecting the eggs from the chickens and putting them in the office for sale!
