Wellbeing Wednesday – Forest School
We have had a lovely morning at our sessions today with calm winds and warm sunshine. The younger pupils got stuck into some jobs in the school garden. These involved learning about composting and why compost is so good for growing healthy plants. We inspected the current compost bins before making ‘leaf mould.’ Working as a team, children raked fallen leaves into a pile before scooping them up into a wheelbarrow and transporting them to the composting area. In a year’s time, we will be adding the rotten down leaves onto our school vegetable garden! Afterwards, we brushed the goats and collected the eggs! Meanwhile, the older pupils linked their session into World Mental Health Day which occurs tomorrow. We discussed how the natural environment and spending time in nature can impact on our feelings and emotions and provided examples of when this has happened to us. Pupils then took part in a series of activities including an Autumn Colour Hunt, tree hugging, sit spotting, relaxing in hammocks and taking part in a spot of outdoor yoga! Well done everyone.
