Y5 Group 3 – Camping at Cookridge – Forest School
Today was the final trip to the woods as part of the Camping at Cookridge residential and, after the heavy rain overnight, Group 3 enjoyed the bits of sunshine they had for their for their Forest School day. After a good breakfast and getting ready in their tents, pupils set off on the 30minute walk to Breary Marsh. Here, children were split into two groups and set up their outdoor space by using coloured ribbons as markers before playing a version of hide and seek where trust, fairness, problem solving and challenge were the themes of the game. These themes then continued into our next two team challenges – creating and completing a woodland obstacle nightline course and creating a treasure hunt using woodland clues and tracking skills. Throughout both challenges, pupils used their creativity and enthusiasm to have a thoroughly wonderful time. After lunch, Group 3 spent the afternoon in the woods around Golden Acre Park where children completed more Forest School challenges including the ‘Egg Challenge’ or climb trees and have some free play in the woods. Some pupils chose to take some time out and focus on their wellness and wellbeing by connecting with nature and the friendly squirrels by Forest Bathing.
