Y6 Group 1 – Little Beck Farm
Pupils in Year 6 today began a series of trips to one of our partner farms near Masham. Little Beck Farm is a fantastic, hands-on learning experience where pupils get to see animals up close, link learning from the classroom to real life contexts and be inspired by the wonderful world of agriculture – it is also the farm where we bought our school goats Nigel and Doughnut from! Group 1 visited the farm today and had a great time learning about bees. Children learnt about pollination, honey, bee hives and then acted out collecting nectar from different flowers in the paddock in a variety of games. Children also got to help Farmer Rowan milk one of her goats, make cheese, learn about animal life cycles and make butter which we spread on crackers to taste. It was an extremely busy day and everyone had a great time getting hands on and practical in such a wonderful setting.
