Y6 – Waterfall Farm Visit

What a fantastic couple of days Year 6 had at Waterfall Farm near Masham! Pupils were taken back in time to a farm where tractors aren’t allowed on the land and jobs are done by hand in balance with nature and animal welfare. Pupils were treated to making their own butter and cheese, learning about life cycles of goats and pigs whilst visiting and feeding them and even got to name the farm’s newest cockerel. However, the highlight was certainly sausage making in the farm’s onsite butchery. During this part of the visit, pupils took the raw ingredients and followed a recipe to create sausages that were 98% pork based! To end the trip, children played some parachute games before lying on it and reflected on the trip and any future career paths in farming. Pupils are very much looking forward to cooking our sausages at the school fire pit during the next Forest School session.
