Year 4 – Tools – Forest School

Today, Year 4 pupils have revisited some of the tools they began to use last year in their Forest School sessions. They recapped their knowledge of how to handle and use whittling knives, secateurs and loppers safely and correctly whilst learning what uses and purposes each specific tool has. After helping to lead the safety talk of each tool using their understanding from Year 3, children had to independently observe and follow specific safety rules and instructions for each tool, ensuring the tool they chose was the correct one for what they wanted to achieve and ensured they, and others, remained safe throughout the session. All of Year 4 were incredibly mature and sensible around the tools this afternoon and they’re all very excited to use them again next week – well done everyone!
