Year 6 – Jam Doughnuts – Forest School – 29.6.26

Pupils in Year 6 spent their sessions trying something new and taking risks, knowing they may fail! We discussed how these were important life skills, especially in those early days of high school, and how we had to work together to achieve. Children then organised themselves into teams with half the group making and preparing the jam doughnuts (using bread and jam) and a batter mix (using milk and eggs) whilst the other half got fires going to cook on. Once everything was ready, pupils then heated oil in a pan and, when hot enough, dipped the jam sandwiches into the mixture before adding it to the oil. Once cooked, the doughnut was removed from the oil, tossed in sugar and enjoyed! The pupils loved it so much they came back for seconds and thirds! A great way to end their Forest School sessions with us at Cookridge – well done everyone!
