Year 4 – Den Building – Forest School
This week in their Forest School basic skill sessions, Year 4 pupils revisited den building. We re-capped the three types of dens they have learnt how to build before then discussed the features, pros and cons of each. Next, children were challenged to make either a tepee, lean-to or A-Frame den, thinking carefully of the structure and site of the den. Children had to work as a team to succeed; demonstrating excellent communication, problem solving and teamwork skills throughout. It was fantastic to see groups failing, independently reviewing what went wrong then changing their approach the next time and experiencing success – what a great feeling and what a superb life skill to learn. Well done Year 4.
