Wellbeing Wednesday – Forest School
What better way to spend a misty and murky morning then outside at Forest School. The younger pupils spent some time in our Forest School area exploring where we pushed each other to try new things and work as a team. On finding the thickest and stickiest mud we could find, pupils had a great time painting their faces with it and, after unintentionally becoming stuck in the mud, we had the idea of actually playing ‘Stuck in the Mud’ for real where pupils had to help each other out of some rather deep mud patches! Children also used mud kitchen equipment to harvest water droplets off the trees to water emerging daffodils before finally going back and trying once again to collect the chicken eggs. This week, there were 6 which the childrne collected and took to the school office for sale. The older pupils also focused on teamwork and communication skills when being asked to create three new compost bays for the numerous bags of leaves we collected in the Autumn. It wasn’t easy to coordinate placing the panels, cutting the rope to size and then tying knots which had to be sufficient enough to stop the structure falling over. Pupils quickly realised that the jobs needed sharing out equally and that cooperation was the only way to succeed – which they did! Well done everyone!
