Wellbeing Forest School Session – 11.3.26

Both groups of children spent their Wellbeing Forest School session in our garden area this morning as they helped to continue its transformation! Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 learnt about Summer and Autumn raspberries before setting to work to cut down the Autumn raspberries we have in school before they are moved to their new raspberry bed next week! Children also helped to move a redcurrant bush to its new home by digging a hole, adding some compost and compacting the soil back down before adding a barrier around it to protect the bush as it grows. They even had time to collect the chicken eggs and take them to the office to sell. Pupils in Key Stage 2 enjoyed trying to prepare the new raspberry bed by laying a cardboard mulch and weighing it down with wood however the weather had other ideas! As soon as it was down, the strengthening wind blew it all up again. Despite several attempts, we admitted defeat and will try again next week! However, there was still lots to be done. Pupils cut up dead material for the compost bin and planted two new gooseberry bushes in the garden!
