EYFS – Forest School – 28.4.26

Reception pupils have had a great morning outside enjoying an egg and chicken themed session. First of all, we visited our school chickens and discussed the changes the pupils could observe from the newly hatched chicks in the classroom to the adult chickens outside. Next, they went on their first egg hunt of the session to find 21 white plastic eggs. They had to bring them back, open them and look inside where they found a picture and a number. Pupils had to work together to order them and we discussed how a fertilised egg develops inside the egg over 21 days to the point of hatching. Children then ventured to the Forest School area where they did their second egg hunt – to find an Easter Egg for them to take home! We finished the session by reading ‘Chicken Licken’ in the canopy before playing ‘Fox and Chicken’ tig on the field where pupils had to understand and follow rules to ensure the game remained fun and fair. They all had an ‘eggcellent’ morning outside with lots of fun, laughter and learning – well done Reception!
