Statutory Notice

Statutory Notice – proposal to establish a 12 (increasing to 16) place resource provision at Cookridge Primary School

Following the consultation to establish a 12 (increasing to 16) place resource provision at Cookridge Primary School, at its meeting on 11 February 2026, Leeds City Council’s Executive Board approved the recommendation to publish a Statutory Notice in relation to the proposal.

A Statutory Notice has been published in the Yorkshire Evening Post. This is a prescribed, legal process as set out in the Department for Education’s statutory guidance which will mark the start of a 4-week formal consultation period, also known as a ‘representation period’.

The resource provision would be based within the current school building, adapting existing surplus space, to create a specialist learning environment for children with speech, language and communication needs. This provision will enhance the education of the existing children as well as making provision for other children in the locality and wider areas of Leeds.

The proposed opening date for the resource provision is September 2026

The formal consultation period runs from 27th April 2026 to 4pm on 24th May 2026. During this period anyone can comment on or object to the proposal.

Further information about the proposal and the statutory notice can be found on the Leeds City Council website at: https://www.leeds.gov.uk/schools-and-education/planning-school-places/cookridge-primary-school

If anyone wishes to comment on or object to the proposal, they can do this by writing to; PO Box 837, Assets Team, Children and Families, Leeds, LS1 9PZ or by emailing RPplanning@leeds.gov.uk. Comments or objections should reach the Assets Team by 4pm on 24th May 2026, in order to be counted.
