KS1 – Geography – Skills & Fieldwork (b, d, e) – 22.10.26
Geography – Where Do We Live?
This half term, our Year 1 and Year 2 children have been busy exploring the question ‘Where do we live, what is it like and why is it like this?’
We began by becoming map detectives, learning how to read maps, use symbols and keys, and give directions using north, east, south and west.
We then took our learning outdoors, using our observation skills to explore the school grounds before creating our own bird’s-eye-view maps, complete with symbols and keys.
Finally, we became atlas explorers, locating Leeds, England and the United Kingdom, before looking further afield at continents, countries and oceans around the world.
Throughout our learning, the children have developed their geographical vocabulary, map-reading skills and understanding of the world around them!
