UKS2 – Newsletter – 22.10.2021

It has been a busy week in UKS2.

On Monday we had PPA day.

In P.E., the children furthered their skills in netball by developing their defending tactics and ability. Then, they applied this skill in a netball game.

In Art, UKS2 brought life to their beautiful pottery work from last PPA day by painting their creation. Their pots are fantastic and embody some Grecian artistic skills.

In Music, the children worked in their team point colours to make different musical sounds and melodies to direct a Minotaur around a labyrinth. The children were able to bring their knowledge about this myth (Theseus and the Minotaur) from our work in English and combine it with their growing musical ability. It sounded fantastic!

On Wednesday, our team captain candidates gave their speeches to convince UKS2 why we should vote for them. Each and every one of them should be proud of the presentations that they delivered. Each candidate explained why they would make a good team captain and how they would motivate their team with confidence and clarity. Well done to each candidate for being brave and delivering their presentations!

Also we have been celebrating Black History Month. The children learnt what Black History Month is and why it is important that we start and continue the conversation of equality and fairness in our world and history. The children answered questions from a text to further explore what Black History Month is and to learn about famous Black men and women through time.

Finally, our learnatics for this week are: Xander and Nza (Class 8), Millie-Mae and Ellis (Class 9) and Jake and Lilia (Class 10). Keep being amazing! Ooh Ahh, You’re a star!

Have a fantastic break and we will see you on Monday 1st November. It is Week 1, so it is a Forest School day. Your children must come in appropriate clothing for the weather! See you soon.
