Reception – Forest School – Dino Day

Reception capped off their current topic with a dinosaur themed Forest School session this morning. The morning started with a bang with Mr Green reading ‘The Dinosaur’ at the fire pit. Pupils then explored mud pits where they discovered dinosaur eggs before working out a way to hatch them! Some dinosaurs had become trapped in ice and needed rescuing – it was a good job there was so many willing volunteers to help them escape! In another pit, pupils found fossils before creating their own, dinosaur molds and their very own dinosaur eggs using clay. Finally, the children used mud to create dinosaur footprints on the trees in the Forest School area. Pupils also loved the chance to play with their newly hatched or freed beasts. Houses and castles were built, secret lairs were created and dinosaurs were even spotted using the tree house. What a way to finish a topic they have thoroughly loved getting their teeth into.
