Book Bingo Competition
World Book Day is on Thursday 5th March this year and more information will follow soon with all the details of what we are doing here at Cookridge to celebrate this annual event. Excitement is already building in school after this morning’s assembly where our school librarians launched a competition they have designed to motivate and inspire our school community to read more at home in the run up to World Book Day. Please see all the information regarding the competition they are running below.
All children in school have been given a paper copy of the Book Bingo sheets attached below. Pupils can complete as many or as few as they like and, when they have done the activities they would like to do, bring their sheet back into school with their name and year group on and place them in the red boxes in the library. Our librarians will then convert their completed tasks into raffle tickets and put them in year group buckets – the more activities children complete, the more chance they have of winning! In our World Book Day assembly, our special guest author will pull two tickets per bucket and those winners will then be whisked off on our minibus to Waterstones in Leeds who are hosting some World Book Day activities for us and pupils will be able to choose some books to buy for our school library. As this is a competition, honesty, which is one of our key principles at Cookridge, is important. Please can parents verify the activities completed by children before handing them in. For pupils in Reception, activities can be ticked off if they listen to an adult read one of the stories and engage in the text.
Good luck everyone- you have to be in it to win it!
