Children’s Mental Health Week – Forest School

As part of our activities to promote mental health in children, pupils in Mr Gamble’s Well-Being Wednesday groups tapped into this year’s theme for the week – ‘Growing Together.’ Pupils investigated log slices, learning about the growth and development of trees, such as why some rings were close together yet others were further apart. They then tried to count the rings to determine their age. Next, pupils used oil pastels to create a log slice of their life so far, adding in rings in different colours to match how old they are and any events that have happened in their lives. Around their log wheels, children wrote or drew things that make them happy and contribute to them having good mental health. To finish with, we did outdoor yoga amongst the trees in the sunshine where we focused on physical and mental benefits.
