What a busy week we have had!

In phonics we have be looking at the diagraphs ‘qu’ and ‘ch’. We matched words and pictures that used the sounds and then had a  go at writing our own labels for different things. In maths we have been looking at numbers between 10 and 20. We used numicon, cubes and tens/twenty frames to represent numbers in different ways. The children have really impressed the staff by starting to get the hang of the idea that the one at the front of the number means 10 and not 1.

On Wednesday we had a forest schools session and the children enjoyed going up to the garden in the morning for both phonics and maths. They worked in pairs to read different actions from word cards such as ‘hop’ and ‘jump’ and then carrying out the different challenges. They also did a super job counting leaves, sticks and dandelions using chalk twenty frames. In the afternoon we played on the tree house and build an obstacle course to get from one end of the garden to the other without touching the floor.

Next week it is PE on Tuesday.

Wellies will not be needed next week as we will be on the playground at lunchtime not the field.

Have a super weekend!
