EYFS Newsletter – 25/11/2022

Reception have worked hard this week and have done so well with their learning!

In Phonics we have been looking at the graphemes ‘f’ and ‘l’ and the sounds that they make. We identified initial sounds and matched up the correct letters to finish the words and also read a collection of words or phrases and matched them to the right pictures. We also spent time practising reading and spelling our tricky words.

In maths this week we have investigated different shapes with 4 sides and how we could decide which was which. We went for a hunt around the classroom and school to see if we could identify squares and rectangles in everyday objects and we used paper shapes to make pictures and carefully count the number of squares and rectangles used. We also had a go at correctly completing colour by shape worksheets.

As you may have already seen, on Thursday we had a very special event in the hall to celebrate the upcoming wedding of Mr Kerr and Miss Brophy. All of the children in reception designed outfits for the couple to wear (just in case the hadn’t already sorted this!) and we used these to make a big card to present during the celebration.

Diary dates;

  • Children will have forest school on Thursday next week.
  • Christmas Fair: Friday 2nd December 2:00-3:30pm (Please note the change in time)
  • Reception Christmas play: Wednesday 7th December at 2:3o p.m (up to 3 guests per child)

We hope you have a super weekend!
