Grasslands Farm Visit Catch-Up – LKS2

We had a wonderful catch up with our friends Rob, Jane and Farmer David at Grasslands Farm in York where we visited in April. During a live zoom call from one of his fields, Farmer David dug up a pair of cotton pants with the hope of finding them decomposed by worms in the soil. Despite the dry summer we’ve had so far, the results demonstrated excellent soil quality in the field as the worms had been busy breaking down the cotton. Jane also showed us the elastic waistband which was still completely intact and explained why the worms had not touched it. The pupils are very excited to receive the pants in the post next week for a closer inspection. (Some photos are from planting the pants in April for comparison).
