KS1 – Newsletter -8.1.21

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

It hasn’t quite begun as we expected, but the week did begin well. We were about to start a topic on The Great Fire of London and began by looking at drawings of the Fire and predicting how it may have started and what might have happened. We then spent time doing Forest schools. Having a fire and looking at charcoal that is left. The children used charcoal made from previous fires, to draw pictures of the Great fire of London. We also spent time making wooden houses on the field.

As you are of course aware, School had to close with immediate effect from Monday evening. This is not what any of us would have wanted, but we are determined to make the most of it.

On the website you will find a whole range of learning resources. You each should now have collected a learning pack from the school office. Each day there is an expectation from the government, that each child will engage with the school in some form. This can include accessing the online resources such as Numbots, Lexia, Timestables rockstars, Spelling shed or Purple Mash. Every afternoon your child can join the teachers on Zoom to check in and see how things are going and what they have been doing. Also, your child can be completing work from their pack and from the website. Please e mail any photos of your child’s learning to the key stage 1 e mail address. It’s lovely for us to see what they are doing and celebrate this with them and also for us to share this on the website for others to enjoy too.

If you have any problems accessing work or understanding what you need to do, please do not hesitate to contact the team on the Key stage 1 e mail.

Here’s a little look at some of the fabulous work that has been sent in so far:
