KS2 – Class 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 – Bland Close Farm Trip

Good afternoon everyone,

This year, all of KS2 have been given the exciting opportunity to visit Bland Close Farm in Ripon. An active working farm, Bland Close is a Country Trust farm with visits tailored towards providing an educational experience towards our children. The visit will bring classroom learning to life as they are experiential, outdoors and designed to suit the needs of each individual group by developing activities that link in with the curriculum as well as supporting emotional and social needs that will help broaden children’s horizons and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Bland Close farm is a mixed farm with cows, sheep, alpacas, hens and chicks which also offers a rich range of opportunities to explore cereals, wheat grinding, soil health, sileage making, hedge planting, mini beast hunting and a range of eggsperiments to weave science into the day too.

The trip will take place in year groups, with each one going on the following dates:

UKS2

Year 3 – Wednesday 19th April

Year 4 – Thursday 20th April

LKS2

Year 5 – Wednesday 24th May

Year 6 – Thursday 25th May

The cost of the trip will be £5.00 per pupil (£2.50 pupil premium). This is now available to pay for on parent pay. This payment is to cover the cost of the transport to and from the farm. The trip will run in school time, with buses leaving at 9.15am and returning to school before the end of the day. A packed lunch will be provided if your child is usually a school dinner.

This is a fantastic opportunity for children to see the inner workings of a farm, and engage with animals and arable farming.

If there are any questions regarding the visit, please don’t hesitate to contact the office.

Thanks,

Miss Barnicoat
