LKS2 – Class 5 – World Book Day
What a wonderful, creative day we had yesterday! All the children looked utterly fabulous in their costumes, and it was a joy to see such a love of reading all around school. After an exciting mystery reader and a competitive teacher v pupil quiz in assembly, Class 5 spent the day focusing on a Quentin Blake book called The Green Ship. After reading the blurb and predicting what would happen, we listened to the story of two adventurers who found a ship made of trees and bushes, and imagined embarking on journeys all over the world. We then went outside and embarked on our own adventures – some of us found a tree that turned into a time machine, a bridge which became a boat and some branches which became an aeroplane! After some fun outside we acted out our stories using lego and models, making sure we had a clear idea of our characters, setting and a beginning middle and end. Then we carefully wrote up our stories for display.
Finally, we decorated our potatoes as our favourite book characters!
