LKS2 – Class 7 – Environment Day

To begin our environment day, we learnt all about habitat depletion around the world that is caused by human action to this day. Specifically, we looked at the effects of deforestation, desertification and coral bleaching and which living things are being affected by these. We used search engines to research interesting facts about these actions and how we can either reverse or stop them. Next, we looked at other negative impacts that humans are having on the planet. We focused on air, water and land pollution as well as renewable and non-renewable energy resources. We then created our own table resource including all of the facts we learnt. We learnt how people have a shared responsibility to help protect the world around them, how everyday choices can affect the environment and what can be done to help the environmental crisis by both individuals and by the government. We also discussed how to show care and concern for other living things by looking at the various animals who are losing their habitats due to habitat depletions and then how to carry out personal responsibilities in a caring and compassionate way.

Our task was to write a letter to our prime minister, Boris Johnson, pleading for action now to help the climate crisis and save our future.
