LKS2 – Class 7 – Maths

At the beginning of the week in maths, we focused on our 9 times table knowledge.

First, we worked on our instant recall of the 9 times table, writing our answers on our whiteboards. We focused on key facts such as multiplication being commutative and how we can get a times table answer from other facts we know already. We also focused on using our hands as a quick method of learning our 9 times table.

Then, we each got given a number in the 9 times table on a sticker. When a number sentence was called out, we had to throw a ball to the person with the answer. The number sentences were called out faster and faster as a challenge. Then we all stood in a line. When a number sentence was called out, the person with the correct answer on their sticker had to run to the base. We did this faster and faster and also swapped stickers many times to make sure we were learning multiple answers in the 9 times table.

To end the lesson, a number in the 9 times table was called out. In groups, we had to make an array showing this number using natural resources. After we had made the array, we wrote down the full fact family on our whiteboards.
