LKS2 – Forest School

In Forest School today, pupils across LKS2 enjoyed a range of activities which all offered something a little different. Firstly, there was a challenge to calculate the height and width of a tree using just a pencil! Although tricky, children followed the instructions to come up with very precise measurements. A second activity linked with their current science topic of ‘plants’ where pupils explored the kitchen garden, identifying the plants growing in there and the needs of plants. Following on from this, children then weeded the area in order for the herbs to have more space to grow healthy and less competition for nutrients, water and light. The final activity focused on the pupils’ wellbeing and mental health. They were free to choose from outdoor yoga, outdoor reading under the tree house using new beanbag chairs or let off some steam on the ninja slackline.
