LKS2 – Forest School – Tree Week

Pupils in LKS2 celebrated the start of National Tree Week (26th Nov – 4th Dec) with a tree themed session in ever changing autumnal weather. During a discussion where pupils listed all the benefits of trees, they were surprised to learn that trees gave off more than just oxygen. Alongside this, trees also produce phytoncides, which have been found to boost the immune system, and it’s been proven that trees can help to lower blood pressure, reduce stress and make us feel happier by raising our levels of serotonin. With this in mind, pupils planted a range of new trees on our school site, had a go at some yoga amongst the trees and searched the school grounds trying to identify the trees we already have growing on site.
