UKS2 – Newsletter – 07.02.20

On Monday in Forest School, UKS2 braved the wind in an action packed and creative Forest School session. The children were asked to forage for materials to create their own characters and scene for a Star Wars story. The children then had to narrate the story in their pairs and perform them to the class. Additionally, the children completed a Forest School reading comprehension, discussing the importance of bumblebees to our ecosystem.

Also on Monday, Class 10 took the school mini-bus to Adel Dam Nature Reserve at Golden Acre Park. The children played traditional Forest School games such as tig and hide and seek. They also went on nature walks, listened to the sounds of the woods and had encounters with a brazen robin and a woodpecker! The children behaved in an exemplary manner and engaged enthusiastically in all of the activities!

Finally, this week was mental health week, so we have been exploring the importance of maintaining good mental health and ‘finding your brave’. Pupils across the phase have taken part in a range of activities, including: Mindmate, designing their own ‘brave’ hero, writing acrostic poems about bravery and sharing some of their own ‘brave’ moments. The children have shown exemplary maturity in their attitudes towards mental health week and produced some remarkable work!
