UKS2 – Newsletter – 17.02.2022

It has been a busy week in UKS2.

In geography, Class 8 were tasked with analysing and organising the flags of the world. Afterwards, using their own lifestyle, culture and beliefs, they designed their own flags. They chose their own colours and symbols to represent themselves.

In computing, Class 9 used their knowledge and skills about algorithms to travel around space!

They were given planets to cut out and order as a team. After this, they used Bee-bots to input their algorithms and travel around space. The children were challenged to travel in straight lines and curved lines: questioning how this affected their algorithms. Finally, the children transcribed their algorithms.

In Forest School, Class 10 braved the weather and headed out to build their own Tipis. Working in small groups, pupils worked on their teamwork, communication and resilience skills. Despite the weather doing its best to blow over their tipis, the pupils showed great determination to build some fantastic structures.

In addition to this, a group of children supported Mr Gamble in the garden area carrying out some essential maintenance!

Our learnatics for this week are: Innayah and Eleanor (Class 8), Jude and Yasmine (Class 9) and Vincent and Jake (Class 10).

You’re all amazing. Keep up the hard work. Ooh ahh you’re a star!!!

Don’t forget, first Monday back (28.02.2022) is a training day, children will NOT be attending school. Also, the Thursday of that week (03.03.2022) is World Book Day. Children can come to school dressed as any book characters. UKS2 will be doing some work around ‘Twisted Fairy tales’, so if they can link their costumes to that, it would be brilliant!

Have a wonderful half term break and we will see you in March!
