UKS2 – Newsletter – 18.11.22

It has been a superb week in UKS2. On Monday, in Forest School, the children revisited their den building skills, in an attempt to design and create a weatherproof shelter. Armed only with sticks, string and tarpaulins, they were challenged to build a shelter that protected them from the, less than pleasant, conditions. There were some outstanding shelters built, and the children displayed excellent teamwork, resilience and determination to fight through the mist. Well done everyone.

In science, the children were exploring the effect of voltage on circuit components. After revisiting their key terms and circuit symbols, the children made predictions about how they thought voltage would effect their lightbulbs and buzzers. Once they had drawn a results table, they then investigated the impact of the voltage on the output components by building their own circuits.

As part of our school-wide focus on spellings and phonics, children are now expected to practise next week’s spellings at home. To facilitate this, pupils will be given an activity to help them practise the spellings. Below are is a link to the activity that the children will also be bringing home.
