Year 6 – Food Technology – Mussels
We were lucky enough to be 1 of 200 schools in England to receive a free delivery of rope-grown mussels. Today Year 6 learnt all about how to prep the mussels and cook them. Children took charge of ensure all the byssus’ (beards) were removed before cooking, that the mussels were still fresh and quickly cleaned them. We then steamed the mussels in stock before adding a delicious tomato sauce. Children enjoyed tasting them and many went back for more.
